We believe the success of every youth relies on an invested community. We couldn’t do what we do without the support from a team of volunteers who work with youth and/or behind the scenes at RAWK.
We believe the success of every youth relies on an invested community. We couldn’t do what we do without the support from a team of volunteers who work with youth and/or behind the scenes at RAWK.
As a founding principle, we rely on a team of volunteers to support youth as staff lead the curriculum because we believe the success of every student relies on an invested community. We know that a positive relationship with a trusted adult helps students in a myriad of ways in school, life, and beyond. To qualify as a RAWK volunteer, you just need to be at least 18 years old and have a desire to work with youth and then we’ll provide the rest! We hold cohort trainings for all volunteers on trauma-informed learning, poverty-informed learning, anti-racism, social emotional learning, implicit bias, cultural agility, holistic education, and how to truly listen to students so that their voice is heard in a deep and meaningful way. RAWK exists to celebrate and amplify youth voices, to enrich the literary narratives of every young person we encounter, all at absolutely no financial cost to the youth or the families we serve. Want to help us do that? Fill out the Volunteer Application today and our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch!
We exist to celebrate and amplify youth voices. Your donation provides RAWK’s free programs in our literacy center, in schools, and in the community to ensure the youth we serve are heard and valued. Reading and writing are for everyone. They are acts grounded in expressing ourselves and learning about each other. They are movements of community building and strengthening empathy. Your donation is a gift to the community, an investment in youth, and a statement that says you believe in the power of youth voice. All gifts are welcome, all gifts make impact.
