As part of the Community Emergence Series initiated by Kalamazoo Nature Center, RAWK is teaming up with Kalamazoo Public Library Alma Powell Branch staff to bring you:

Lunch with Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower

High school aged youth are invited to join us at Alma Powell Library for a delicious lunch and discussion of Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower. Each participant will receive a free copy of the graphic novel!
We’ll learn a bit about Octavia Butler (the first and only science fiction writer to receive a MacArthur Genius Fellowship) and explore the genres of science fiction and afrofuturism. Then we’ll dive into the novel and the prophecies it holds.
